Ice 3.2b and Connections Issue #21 now available

ZeroC, Inc. is pleased to announce the availability of the Internet Communications Engine (Ice), version 3.2b. We are making this beta release available to provide our user community with an opportunity to evaluate it prior to the final release. Although we call it a beta release, the software has undergone the same rigorous testing that precedes every Ice update. If all goes well and no significant issues are reported, the final release of Ice 3.2 will be essentially identical to 3.2b.

Highlights of the 3.2b release include:
  • Support for IceGrid registry replication
  • Many enhancements to IceStorm, including better performance and reliability
  • An optional new C++ mapping for Slice structures
  • Several improvements related to Ice configuration
  • More powerful request contexts
  • Additional platform support for Windows Vista, Solaris 10, and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10
  • Improved Ice documentation:
    • New Web-based version of Distributed Programming with Ice and the Slice API reference
    • New user guide for the IceGrid graphical administration tool
    • See our new documentation page for details
