ZeroC, Inc. is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Ice-E version 1.3. This release of Ice-E ("Embedded Ice") reflects our continued commitment to delivering fast, efficient middleware for mobile and embedded devices, such as smart phones, personal digital assistants, and controllers.

Highlights of the 1.3 release include:
  • Thread pool concurrency model
  • Asynchronous message invocation (AMI) with the same non-blocking semantics as Ice 3.3
  • Support for thread priorities
  • Object by value
  • Default servants
  • Dynamic network interfaces

Ice-E features a highly-optimized, compact runtime and the same great C++ language mapping as Ice. This release supports Windows Mobile, Windows XP/Vista, and Linux. As of this release, Ice-E support for Java Micro Edition has been discontinued.
