IceBT under iOS/macOS?

Are there any plans to port IceBT to the iOS/macOS bluetooth stack? It looks like it's quite heavily tied into the bluez dbus interface, but this also seems reasonably generic... any community contributions anyone is aware of attempting such a port?

    Hi Philip,

We don't have immediate plans to port it to macOS or Windows but this is something we will consider if there's commercial demand for it. For iOS, we do support Bluetooth communication already through the iAP transport. This requires to implement the iAP protocol on the peer side (the accessory) and to apply to Apple MFi program.

    Cheers,
    Benoit.

I guess an alternative would be an implementation that uses only the BTLE stack... that would certainly make it more portable to iOS.

    Hi Philip,

That's right. For now we don't have immediate plans to implement a Bluetooth LE transport. Such a transport might be doable but it wouldn't perform as well as a transport that is using regular Bluetooth. It could still be interesting to have for some applications.

    Cheers,
    Benoit.
