Ice 3.4 released

ZeroC, Inc. is pleased to announce the availability of the Internet Communications Engine (Ice), version 3.4. This release offers several improvements and bug fixes, including all of the patches posted since Ice 3.3.1. The following enhancements are included in Ice 3.4:
  • A new, more powerful API for asynchronous method invocation (AMI)
  • Improved scalability for servers that accept large numbers of connections
  • A simpler API for implementing default servants
  • A new dispatching interface that makes it easy to dispatch invocations and callbacks to application threads
  • Utility classes for Glacier2 to support keeping a Glacier2 session alive and automatically restarting a lost session
  • Thread priority support
  • Ice properties can now be set via the Windows registry
  • Java and .NET libraries now include documentation comments for display by IDEs
  • SQL support for IceGrid and IceStorm
  • A new Slice compiler and API improvements for PHP
  • Default values for data members can now be specified in Slice
