Alternative to IceGrid Windows Service
Hi,
Refrring to my comments in posting (http://www.zeroc.com/forums/help-center/4004-icegridnode-windows-service.html), consider extending the product so IceGrid services run as normal processes when a user logs on. This overcomes the problem that Windows Services suffer when attempting to launch apps with HMI elements, i.e. incorrect user credentials.
Control/configuration of the IceGRid Services could be via a system tray icon, that pops open a form and allows "services" to be managed, e.g. set the Ice.Config file for the service.
Since the IceGrid services would be running with the logged in user credentials, there are no problems when launching HMI based apps using IceGrid.
Cheers John
