How To Read ICE source code?

I was involved in ICE a few weeks ago. It's a well designed and well coded project. I'm very glad to know ICE. It seems that I need to know the roughly logic of ICE so I want to deep into the ICE source. But it's a hard task without any design document. I've read the ICE manual and a few technical articles but still not enough. So I also searched in the forum and read the book Pattern Oriented Software architecture Volumen 2 roughly. Now I think that I need something like class diagram or sequence diagram. Can anybody help me? Thanks very much.
