rss newsfeeds?

Re: rss newsfeeds?Originally posted by stephan
I know it's not quite a crucial point for the platform itself. But would it be possible to create rss newsfeeds containing infos on the most recent forum entries and the zeroc news (as displayed on the front page).
Hmmm... I'm not sure that this would be worth the effort -- we don't generate enough announcements to make this worthwhile, I suspect.
Also, I have no idea how hard/easy it would be to add an RSS newsfeed to VBulletin. Anyone know?

Hi again!
this thread was sleeping for some time and tonight I found something that might actually finally sole it.
In the options of vbulletin, one can find options for the so-called 'external data providers':

Could you try out to enable the rss syndication provider?

I have enabled RSS, and tested with Mozilla Thunderbird.
I am new to RSS, so please someone help me out here: What's the advantage of this RSS stuff compared to going to the Web site directly?0 -
The nice thing, at least for me, is that I don't have to visit dozens of news and forums sites per day but have a simple list view with a thread overview from each site where I can find the items that interest me and then switch to the corresponding site to view the entire thread.
Other valuable rss feeds are for example:
http://slashdot.org/index.rss
http://www.osnews.com/files/recent.rdf
or
http://www.go-mono.com/monologue/index.rss
What is the rss hyperlink to the ZeroC forum btw?
cheers,
