Debian packages are available
Neither Debian or Ubuntu are officially supported platforms as you can see in http://www.zeroc.com/platforms.html.
Nevertheless I maintain the ZeroC Ice packages for Debian and I never faced a serious compatibility issue so far. Indeed the Debian binary packages may actually be easier to setup in some scenarios (e.g. Debian version falls-back to poll when epoll is not available).
Ubuntu Edgy universe and later includes my packages.

Fransisco,
Thanks for the information. I'll contact you offline.

Ubuntu is not an officially supported platform, so we won't make any promises. However, I compile Ice on Ubuntu all the time without problems.

Michi,
Thanks. That's a good data point. I'll start looking into this shortly.

Michi,
Just a quick follow up. I've rebuilt 3.2.1 from scratch on my system. Thanks for the tip.
