Licensing

Hi,
I have read licensing-related thread, but I think that I have
a different situation.
What kind of license applies to ASP solutions ?
What kind of license applies to internal SW (e.g., SW used
for internal management of systems used to host
end-user sevices) ?

Thanks in advance,
Guido.

I'm afraid I don't know what "ASP" solutions are.

With respect to software used internally only, the GNU license permits such use, provided that the software is not distributed.

    Hi,
ASP stands for Application Service Provider (www.allaboutasp.org).
The problem with licensing is that customers buy the service (i.e., the
USE of a servce), not the SW.
The service runs on systems that reside in ASP datacenters.
From a provider point of view, each service installation can serve
multiple customers (shared platform). Moreover, some components of a
service could be fully shared among all customers.
In this situation a per-customer licencing model could be hard to
apply. Maybe a per-cpu licensing works better.

Can you also clarify if there is a development license and/or runtime
    license.
    Regards,
    Guido.

Since we are getting so many request with respect to commercial licensing lately, we added our official price list to our Web pages: http://www.zeroc.com/licensing.html
