Breaking change in Windows XPSP2 (does it break ICE?)
Folks
I just read today that Windows XP SP2 removes the ability to use raw sockets directly (I don't have a direct link but I found a post related to that here:
http://www.interact-sw.co.uk/iangblog/2004/08/12/norawsockets).
This is probably going to affect ICE running under these conditions, right?

A follow-up to my own message. Maybe I got this wrong -- the post was talking about "raw" sockets, not berkeley sockets. Apparently there is a difference that I didn't know about. Anyway just thought I'd pass it along just in case.0

I heard SP2 also staggers outbound TCP/IP traffic if it's above the normal level. I wonder what kind of effect it will have on ICE clients that pump heavy amount of data.

Ice doesn't use raw sockets, so this change doesn't affect us. We'll have to benchmark Ice with service pack 2 to see whether there is any performance impact (but I'd be surprised if there would be any).
